Intro


Self-guided “Cycling tour of west Balkans triangle” is designed and created for a minimum of two cyclists wanting to get to know this vibrant geographical and historical part of Europe. The road takes you through hills and mountains of the Dinarids, through valleys and villages with traditional lifestyle, all the way down to one of the most amazing seashores in Europe. On this tour, you shall pass the borders of three countries: Croatia, Montenegro, and Bosnia - Herzegovina, and visit the major sites on your cycling route. If you are in love with nature, history, geography, in addition to cycling, this is the right tour for you and your cycling partner. You should be ready to cycle about 40 – 75 km per day, there are some up’s and downs, just like in life – but, trust us, you feel very much rewarded when you take a break for water and some photo shooting from the top of the hill – the views are spectacular. Your gear and equipment are delivered to your final destination for the day, so you can focus solely on the enjoyment of cycling through this wild & beautiful part of the world, and sharing your joy and experience with your cycling tour partner.

Bike rental

Hybrid bikes: 20 EUR per day/bike

Road bikes: Cannondale Optimo (alluminium frame) 30 EUR per day/bike or Trek Emonda (carbon fiber) 35 EUR per day/bike

E-bikes: (electric bikes) 30 EUR per day/bike

Tour rate includes: Accommodation in 3 * hotels, 7 x breakfast, a welcome pack with a water bottle, bag, luggage tags, GPX files and maps to be downloaded to your device, luggage transfers, bike fitting and briefing at the tour start, Airport and all other transfers according tour itinerary.

Day 1st: Arrival day

Meet at Dubrovnik airport transfer to Hotel in Dubrovnik.

Introduction to the trip. Rest of the day is free.

Overnight: Dubrovnik


Day 2nd: Cycling Dubrovnik - Herceg Novi (through teritorry of Bosnia and Herzegovina) cycling distance 65 km, elevation gain 910 m

Breakfast in hotel, a short transfer outside the town where we start with cycling in the direction of the border with Bosnia Hercegovina and the town of Trebinje.

Cycling through the hilly part of a triangle Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Croatia, in the direction to town Herceg Novi on Montenegro coast.

Overnight: hotel 3/4 *in Herceg Novi area

Day 3rd: Montenegro coast (from Herceg Novi along the bay of Boka to the town of Kotor) distance 40 km, elevation gain 200 m

Breakfast in hotel, check out

Cycling along the coastal area of Boka bay (Montenegro fjord) to the town of  Kotor. Today’s bike ride is mainly on flat terrain, we follow the road along the bay of Kotor, through medieval, historical towns and along the Boka bay. After short stop in Kotor town we continue to our hotel.

Overnight: hotel 3* Kotor town area

4th day: Montenegro – Croatia (Gruda, Konavle) distance 70 km, elevation gain 755 m

After breakfast and check out from the hotel, we continue with bike ride along the other side of the bay in direction to border crossing with Croatia. Once we cross the border we ride through Konavle countryside, very picturesque area between mountains and Adriatic sea.

Arrival to the town of Gruda (Konavle countryside) in the afternoon, free time to explore Konavle area on your own.

Overnight: Cavtat (Konavle area) 3* hotel.

5th day: Croatia - Bosnia and Herzegovina, cycling distance 40 km, elevation gain 150 m

Today, after the breakfast we do a short car shuttle closer to the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina where we start bike ride. In a smal town of Ivanica we continue ride on the old rail road along valley of Popovo polje and river Trebisnjica. This area was war zone in the 90s, there are still many traces along the route about those days. Besides interesting historical facts, this part of the road has very beauty and different landscape then coastal area.

Arrival to the small village Zavala / Ravno in the afternoon, free time.

Overnight in Zavala / Ravno, cozy B&B (ex train station)

6th day: Zavala – Ston (Bosnia & Herzegovina back to Croatia), distance 40 km, elevation gain 630 m

Today we cycle along the valley and rural areas in Herzegovina towards border with Croatia, peninsula Peljesac and the town of Ston. This area is famous with few things: the town of Ston is medieval walled town with the longest city walls in Europe, it is the first town in Peljesac peninsula where they produce excellent red wines, around the town Ston there are bays with oysters and mussels farms.

Today’s ride is one of the shortest, but it is hilly part with nice climbs and downhills.

Arrival to Ston, free time, possible oyster tasting and sailing trip to the oyster farms.

7th day: Ston – along Peljesac peninsula to Orebic, distance 50 km, elevation gain 600 m or shorter ride along the peninsula to Trstenik (distance 32 km, elevation gain 400 m)

Afternoon shuttle to Dubrovnik

Cycling along Peljesac peninsula is one most scenic bike ride on the Mediterranean, it has everything, nice roads by the sea and through wine yards, spectacular views to the islands and open sea.

During the afternoon we finish bike ride in Orebic town and from there we do a shuttle (car transfer) to Dubrovnik, arrival in Dubrovnik in the evening / afternoon hours.

8th day: Departure day

Check out after breakfast and a shuttle to Dubrovnik Airport or any other address in Dubrovnik if you continue your stay in Dubrovnik
